LAHORE – The Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority (PWCA) is all set to start its Tourism Season 2026 on September 12, with the return of its popular History by Night programme at Lahore Fort.
The opening tour of the new season will take place on Saturday, September 12, featuring fresh performances and additional attractions designed to give visitors a different perspective on the historic site.
The History by Night experience will initially be offered every Saturday evening. The authority may increase the number of operating days if visitor interest and demand remain strong.
Several other heritage programmes are also scheduled to return during the new tourism season. These include Chandni Raatain at Shalimar Gardens, the Khilwat Khana Tour, Haveli Tour, Yatra and other specially curated heritage experiences.
The PWCA also plans to hold cultural events at historic locations across the province. The programme will include Qawwali and Sufi nights, traditional artisans’ workshops, seminars and other activities aimed at connecting the public with Punjab’s cultural heritage.
PWCA Director General Najamul Saqib said the authority was working to make the upcoming tourism season more engaging and accessible for both local residents and visitors.
He said historic sites should be viewed not simply as architectural structures but as places that reflect the region’s history, culture and collective identity.
According to Saqib, the new season would be combining historical storytelling with music, performing arts and traditional crafts to create more immersive experiences for visitors.
The PWCA, he said, would continue working to expand tourism opportunities, protect Punjab’s historic heritage and encourage greater public engagement with the province’s cultural sites.
