Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the construction of Pakistan’s first wildlife hospital for the treatment of animals, birds and wild animals has been completed, marking a major milestone in wildlife conservation and protection.
This was disclosed by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb in a briefing during her visit to the Forest Department and Wildlife Command and Control Centre, here on Tuesday. The state-of-the-art wildlife hospital had been equipped with modern facilities, including 12 operation theatres and two examination rooms. Addressing the meeting, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the establishment of the hospital was an important step towards ensuring better treatment and protection of wildlife under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The meeting decided to prepare a master plan and business plan to transform Jallo Park into a modern eco-tourism destination under a public-private partnership model. It was also decided to install a technology-based system for early detection of forest fires. The meeting was informed that Punjab had achieved the historic milestone of planting 50 million saplings in one year, while more than 10 million additional saplings were being planted during the ongoing monsoon plantation campaign. It was further informed that construction of the Giraffe Cafe and Tree House Cafe at Safari had been completed. Both facilities would provide visitors with modern, international-standard recreational opportunities in a natural environment, promoting eco-tourism. The meeting was told that the Forest Rangers Force, comprising more than 5,000 personnel, now included 215 women for the first time. The department was conducting live surveillance of forests through artificial intelligence, long-range thermal cameras and satellite monitoring.
