PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is set to attend the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) meeting in Islamabad on Saturday (today).
“The chief minister will indeed represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, having received an invitation to attend the SIFC meeting. He will articulate the abundant investment opportunities available in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the session,” said Barrister Saif in a statement.
He also expressed his earlier disappointment over the federal government’s exclusion of the KP chief minister from the SIFC meeting.
Special Assistant to CM KP on information and public relations, Barrister Saif, revealed that following intervention by the KP governor, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended a formal invitation to the KP chief executive for participation in the forthcoming session.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is due to chair a meeting of SIFC’s apex committee at the PM House on Saturday (today).
The session will witness the presence of key officials, including all chief ministers, deputy prime minister Senator Ishaq Dar, and ministers responsible for various portfolios such as information, finance, defence, planning and development, commerce, law and justice, and water resources, alongside provincial chief secretaries.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqi is scheduled to brief the meeting on anti-smuggling measures, while an update on the country’s security situation will also be provided.
Established in June 2023, the SIFC serves as a collaborative platform for provincial and federal government representatives, as well as military officials, aimed at decision-making for economic revitalization and boosting foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows.
Furthermore, the council is overseen by an apex committee chaired by the prime minister and comprising the chief of army staff, chief ministers, and other high-ranking government officials.
