ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif received a call from King Charles III as the latter invited him for upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The conference scheduled to be held in Samoa from October 21-26 will be chaired by King Charles III the for the first time since becoming head of the Commonwealth in September 2022. The biennial CHOGM brings together leaders from member countries to discuss critical global issues.
Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed that Samoa summit represents significant moment for the Commonwealth and reiterated his country’s dedication to the organization’s values and objectives.
During the summit, the premier is expected to engage in discussions on enhancing intra-Commonwealth cooperation, with a particular focus on sustainable development, democratic institution strengthening, and youth empowerment.
The premier also highlighted significance of addressing climate change, a pressing issue for Pakistan, which faced devastating floods in 2022 that resulted in significant losses. In his conversation with King Charles,

Last year, Prime Minister previously visited London for King Charles’s coronation and last CHOGM, reflecting the longstanding and robust relationship between Pakistan and the British royal family.
