Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui blasted on Thursday the Sindh government and police for bothering traders and businessmen in Karachi.
He and other MQM-P leaders along with leaders of various Karachi trade associations spoke to media persons at party’s Bahadurabad office.
“There is a Sindhudesh government here,” the MQM-P convener said, adding, “From the police to the Sindh Secretariat, go see the establishment here, the bureaucracy here,” he added.
Siddiqui warned policemen “hailing from outside of Karachi” against conducting raids on local traders. “The Karachi administration has been tasked with bothering the city’s traders and asked how much it will bring to the Peoples Party’s fund in return.”
He said demanding anything from the Sindh government was tantamount to painting one’s own face black. “Their job is to destroy the economy and social fabric of this city,” the MQM-P convener said. “And I congratulate them for devastating it to quite an extent,” he said scornfully.
Seventy percent of non-natives have made it to local bodies and local governments, Siddiqui lamented, asking the Sindh government to “take them all back to Sindhudesh”.
“This is Pakistan and here no coercion by the Sindhudesh government will be tolerated,” he said.
The MQM-P convener said the steps taken by the incompetent government of Sindh are moving Sindhu Desh and all the steps taken by the Sindh government are against the development of Karachi and the traders of Karachi. Now is the time for denial instead of reconciliation. Conspiracy is being hatched to break and harm Pakistan through Karachi. Sindh government machinery is being used for looting. In this regard, the federation needs to take immediate decisions, said Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
The biased government of Sindh has not been able to provide even one percent of jobs to the people of Sindh in the last 13 years and now in the name of lockdown, the business community is worried that Karachi is being economically weakened, said Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
We stand with them on the legitimate demands of the business community. Karachi traders pay the bulk of Sindh province’s revenue but the Sindh government is playing a step-mother-like slogan with Karachi traders, Deputy Convener MQM Pakistan Wasim Akhtar said.
Today disaster has befallen the business community once again and they are alone in this difficult time. We thank MQM Pakistan. Every difficult hour is with the traders and the people, said business leader Atiq Mir.
Atiq Mir added that traders are being forced to take to the streets by reducing business hours in the name of Coronavirus.
