A delegation of Occupied Kashmir Journalists Association (OKJA), the forum of Pakistan-based journalists hailing from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, met with the President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, Raja Fahim Kayani, in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the role of Kashmiris and Pakistanis living in the UK in highlighting the Kashmir dispute at the international level was discussed in detail.
Speaking on the occasion, Fahim Kayani said as part of highlighting the issue of Kashmir in Britain, the members of UK Parliament are also being informed about the ongoing Indian atrocities in IIOJK. He said that recently a conference was held in the British Parliament on Kashmir in which many MPs participated and openly supported the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. He said it is necessary to step up the efforts to expose the ongoing Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir.
Fahim Kayani maintained that efforts are going on to put pressure on India at the global level to rescind the illegal and unconstitutional measures of August 5, 2019. In this regard, he said, August 05 is observed every year as Youm-e-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir across the UK to draw the attention of British government and the international community to the urgency involved in the resolution of the Kashmir problem. He said protests are held throughout the UK while a demonstration is held in front of the Indian High Commission in London where a memorandum is also presented.
The Kashmiri journalists informed Raja Faheem Kayani about their efforts to highlight the issue of Kashmir in Pakistan’s electronic and print media. They said Narendra Modi-led Indian government has accelerated its cruel tactics in the occupied territory after 05 August 2019. However, they added that the worst Indian atrocities have failed to force the Kashmiri people to give up their freedom struggle.
The delegation included Mohiuddin Dar, Nayeem-ul-Asad, Arshad Hussain Mir, Abdul Latif Dar, Maqsood Montazer and senior journalist from Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Bashir Usmani.—KMS
