MUMBAI – Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has announced her entry into Indian politics by contesting the 2024 general elections.
Kangana’s father has confirmed that she will be running on the ticket of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the local media reported.
The speculations about Kangana’s entry into politics had been circulating since she met with BJP’s National President J.P. Nadda last week.
Kangana had previously hinted at entering politics in several media interviews. In the past, she has been vocal in support of the Modi government and BJP, endorsing not only their political initiatives but also aligning with their ideological stance.
In early November, Kangana Ranaut expressed her desire to participate in future Lok Sabha elections during an interview with a newspaper, indicating her intention to embark on a political journey in the near future.
The trend of prominent figures joining politics is not limited to a specific country; rather, it is a global trend observed for decades.
It’s noteworthy that Kangana Ranaut will soon be seen portraying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a historical drama film titled ‘Emergency.’ The film is based on the Emergency imposed in India between 1975 and 1977.
