Justice Gulzar Ahmad, Senior Puisne judge of the Supreme Court, was on Thursday sworn in as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan.
Justice Mushir Alam administered the oath in a simple and dignified ceremony at the Supreme Court.
The judges of the Supreme Court, the Attorney General of Pakistan, senior lawyers and law officers attended the oath-taking ceremony. Officers and staff of the Supreme Court were also present on the occasion.
Justice Gulzar Ahmad will act as the chief justice during the period when Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khan Khosa will remain abroad.
