Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam on Wednesday demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan to amend the election schedule, requesting an extension to the deadline for receiving nomination papers.
Senator Kamran Murtaza, a JUI representative, wrote a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, expressing concerns about the limited time allotted for submitting nomination papers. The current schedule allows only three days for this crucial step.
Murtaza argued that political parties need more time to distribute tickets to candidates at both the national and provincial levels. He proposed adding three days to the nomination paper receipt period to facilitate this process.
