Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has submitted his nomination papers for the election of chairman for the union council 8 of North Nazimabad. Zulfiqar Ahmed also filed his papers for vice chairman to the JI leader.
The union council consists block A, B and F of the Alfalah area of North Nazimabad Town in Karachi. The JI leader reached at the office of the deputy commissioner central for submission of the papers. A large number of JI workers and activists welcomed the JI leader outside the DC office.
Later while talking to the media, Engr Naeemur Rehman said that the JI has decided to launch a strong campaign for the local bodies elections in Karachi to be held on July 24. A big workers convention will be held on June 17 at New MA Jinnah Road in this regard. “Karachi Rights Movement” was warmly welcomed by Karachiites and the 30 million residents in the city have recognized their rights. He said that the JI has served the city in an unmatchable manner and would do so in the future as well.
The JI leader expressed his hope that the JI’s candidate would be elected as city mayor and would set the movement of the city in the right direction. Talking about the issues of the city, he said that not a single drop of water has been increased in the quota of water supply for the water in the past 17 years. Both the federal and the provincial government are doing nothing for the city, he said adding that problems for citizens in Karachi are increasing day by day. He said that practically there was no proper system for transportation in the city. He vowed that the JI would bestow a better mass transit system to the city of lights. He added that the JI, if elected, would ensure the much needed development work in the city on priority basis.
