JF-17 Thunder jets handed over to Nigeria

A milestone in Pakistan-Nigeria Defence relations was achieved when Nigeria became the third country to have JF-17 Thunder Jets, jointly developed by Pakistan and China, on their inventory.

The jets were formally handed over to Nigerian Air Force in an official ceremony at Makurdi, Nigeria on Thursday.

Pakistan Air Force was represented by Air Marshal Syed Noman Ali, Vice Chief of Air Staff along with other high ranking officials, says a press release issued by Pakistan High Commission in Abuja.

Major General (Retd) Muhammad Tayyab Azam, High Commissioner of Pakistan to Nigeria and Col Mehboob Iftikhar Khattak, Defence Adviser, were also present to witness the ceremony.

From Nigerian side Major General (Retd) Bashir Salihi Magashi, Minister for Defence and Air Vice Marshal Oladayo Isiaka Amao, Chief of Air Staff graced the occasion.

Pakistan and Nigeria have enjoyed close defence ties in the past. The induction of these state of the art fighter jets will further strengthen the defence ties and strategic partnership between both the countries.
