A reference was held in the remembrance of Javed Ansari, Editor SouthAsia, today at the magazine’s office in Karachi. Javed Ansari, who served as the editor of SouthAsia, passed away recently in Karachi.
The reference was attended by his close friends, colleagues and acquaintances who had the pleasure of knowing him during the course of his career. They shared their fond memories of Javed Ansari describing him as someone who looked out for his colleagues and co-workers with the utmost kindness and sincerity.
Senator (R), Javed Jabbar who had a long working relationship with him said, “I have been blessed to know Javed Ansari and shall always remember his kindness and humility as well as the warmth and encouragement he imparted to all. He will truly be missed. His leadership as the editor of the magazine was really exemplary.”
The Editor-in-Chief and founder of SouthAsia, Syed Jawaid Iqbal while paying rich tribute to the lifelong services rendered by Javed Ansari, termed his demise as a loss to the print journalism in the country. “Javed was regarded as one of the most knowledgeable and experienced professionals to grace the publication in Pakistan. He was not only a one-man powerhouse in the magazine world but also a kind, thoughtful and warm person whom I was proud to know as a colleague and a very close friend.”
Ikram Sehgal, while paying rich tribute to Javed Ansari said, “I was so saddened to hear about the passing away of Mr. Ansari. Javed and I spent a lot of time talking about many different topics and I really appreciated so much of his thoughtfulness & energy. I’m genuinely sad & hurt and wish his family and friends my sincerest condolences.
While recollecting the past, Riaz Mansuri, editor/publisher of Women’s Own, TV Times and the Cricketer said, “I shall always miss our conversations. He was such a gentle soul who will be greatly missed for the happiness he brought to so many people around him.”
