A series of protests against the anti-people policies of the BJP-led Hindutva regime in India were held in parts of Jammu region, today.
People from Thannamandi town and adjoining areas on Tuesday held strong protest at Shahdara Chowk against the indifference of the occupation regime towards health and other basic issues of the local population.
A large number of people assembled at SDM office Thanamandi and stated demonstration demanding availability of all basic health facilities in the area.
Later, they moved to the Shahdara Chowk and staged a sit-in protest.
The protest was led by Haji Maqbool Raina. The protestors blocked road in Shahdra Chowk where Tehsildar Thannamandi Sahil Ali Shah and SHO Thannamandi Showkat Hussain assured the people that they had conveyed their demands to the higher authorities. On this, the protesters ended the sit-in.
Another protest was organized by All Jammu Based Reserved Category Employees Association at Ambedkar Chowk Park, Jammu. Hundreds of Jammu based employees from various departments participated in the protest.—KMS
