ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall of varying intensities with snowfall over the mountains for upper parts of Pakistan on Thursday night and Friday.
As per the synoptic situation, a shallow westerly wave prevails over upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely persist during next 24 hours.
Under these conditions, partly cloudy weather with light rain-wind/thunderstorms and snowfall over the hills are expected at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas on Thursday night. Cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
On Friday, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country and freezing in northern parts. Partly cloudy weather with light rain-wind/thunderstorms and snowfall over the hills are expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and adjoining hilly areas.
Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 05-07 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts and freezing in northern parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills occurred in Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Leh remained the coldest place in the province where temperature dropped 09 C below freezing.
In Islamabad, minimum temperature was recorded at 07 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 83 per cent.
