Former Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan has emphasized the importance of rejecting the narratives aimed atcreating a rift between the armed forces and the people. He stressed theneed to maintain unity and support for the armed forces, who are makingimmense sacrifices for the country.Dr. Khan highlighted the importance of respecting and honoring the armedforces and law enforcement personnel, who are dedicating their lives forthe nation’s future.

He also noted that there may be individuals whocommit wrongdoings in any institution, it is crucial to hold themaccountable rather than tarnishing the reputation of the entireinstitution. He warned that when the bond between the government and the peopleweakens or disintegrates, enemies, both internal and external, exploitthe situation to their advantage. He specifically highlighted theenemy’s strategy of driving a wedge between the masses and the armedforces by propagating a narrative that the latter is solely responsiblefor the people’s problems.

This, he emphasized, is a deliberate attemptto create divisions and undermine national unity.During a virtual meeting with business leaders from Islamabad andRawalpindi, held at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr.Ishratul Ibad Khan expressed his deep concern over the pressing issuesfacing the country, particularly the growing sense of hopelessness amongyouth, entrepreneurs, and various segments of society.

He identifiedpolitical instability, financial crisis, and poor law and order as theunderlying causes of these problems. He emphasized that the governmentmust take a proactive approach, anticipating and addressing challengeshead-on, and ensuring that its efforts are visible and satisfactory tothe public.”He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as one of the bestadministrators, emphasizing the government’s crucial role in maintainingpublic hope amidst challenging circumstances.

He stressed the need for agrand national dialogue to address the country’s issues, led by thecurrent political leadership. Additionally, he called foracross-the-board accountability to tackle the country’s multiplechallenges. He acknowledged the business community as the economy’s truestakeholders, commending their tireless efforts for the country’swell-being. However, he criticized the Independent Power Producers(IPPs) as a “vicious cycle” contributing to circular debt, foreign debt, decreased exports, factory closures, high business costs, andunemployment.

He urged the government to prioritize national interestsand resolve the issue promptly, focusing on the greater good rather thanpolitical interests.Dr. Khan also explained that his slogan ‘Merhi Pechan, Mera Pakistan’ isinspired by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s principles of ‘Unity,Faith, Discipline,’ which are essential for the country’s and people’swell-being.”In his address Ahsan Zafar Bakhtaewari, President Islamabad Chamber ofCommerce and Industry paid the richest tributes to Dr. Ishratul IbadKhan for his services as Governor Sindh. He said that the difficulties and polarization the country is facing atthe moment and the services of Dr Ibad are much needed in the country topull it out of all the odds by his vision and wisdom.
