There was a big achievement for the campaign launched by Lahore Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Usman Younas in an effort to curb the coronavirus spread “#Lahore Mask Pehnta Hey”, as an international donor has offered 30million masks
donation for the Lahore division on Wednesday.
According to a private TV channel, Hanesbrands International Trade Vice President Jerry Cook wrote a letter to the Lahore Commissioner offering a donation of 30 facemasks to reduce the spread of
COVID-19.
The letter reads, “From our conversation with the Yale and Innovations for Poverty Action team led by Prof Mobarak, we have learned from the NORM model (No-cost masks, Offering Information, Reinforcement, Modeling) that you are implementing in
Lahore to increase mask-wearing and reduce Covid-19 transmission among the population.
As our contribution to this humanitarian effort, Hanesbrands Inc is pleased to be able to provide 30 million Adult 3 Ply Knit facemasks to Lahore Division for a
total price of $1 to assist with the urgent humanitarian assistance.”
Jerry Cook urged the commissioner to accept the 30 million masks at the total price of $1. He said facemasks would be available to distribute within the population in accordance with the NORM model.
“We understand that Lahore Division will seek
approval from the Federal authorities in Pakistan to ensure a duty exemption for these masks,” he further said.
Capt (retd) Usman said these masks will be distributed free to the citizens and has urged the citizens to follow the SOPs and wear masks if
they want to avoid the fourth wave of the deadly virus.
He said the citizens would not face any difficulty getting the masks now and the health of the citizens was the government’s top priority.
