Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, highlighted the global observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, including in Pakistan, emphasizing its role in raising public awareness about the rights, welfare, and respect for people with disabilities.

During a meeting at his office with Javed Rais, President of the Disabled Welfare Association, and other members, Commissioner Naqvi assured the delegation of the Karachi administration’s commitment to addressing the issues faced by persons with disabilities. Javed Rais raised concerns about the rising number of traffic accidents in Karachi, urging greater efforts to promote road safety.

Commissioner Naqvi responded by stating that the government is implementing measures to prevent traffic accidents and stressed the importance of educating citizens on traffic safety rules. The Disabled Welfare Association proposed a collaborative road safety awareness campaign, suggesting active participation from its members. Commissioner Naqvi welcomed the idea, emphasizing the significance of inclusive initiatives to enhance public awareness and safety.

The observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Karachi underscores the city’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and addressing the challenges faced by its differently-abled citizens.
