ISLAMABAD – Indian government’s role in terrorism and targeted killings in Pakistan again sparked international condemnation after a recent expose.

A report shared by the Washington Post uncovered the nefarious role of the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), which has been conducting coordinated assassination program, with at least six individuals killed within Pakistan’s borders.

One of the most recent and high-profile cases occurred in Punjab capital, where two attackers killed Amir Sarfaraz, known as Tamba – a notorious gangster with a controversial past, had been accused of murdering an Indian intelligence officer in a Pakistani prison.

Tamba’s murder was linked to pattern of killings by RAW operators. These killings seemed to reflect a growing trend in New Delhi’s tactics, which have now expanded beyond Pakistan’s borders, with similar operations targeting dissidents in countries like Canada and the United States.

The surge in such operations comes amid India’s intensifying efforts to challenge its enemies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Allegations that RAW was behind the killings of Sikh separatists abroad are seen as an extension of the methods tested in Pakistan.

These targeted assassinations appear to be part of India’s cross-border repression, with increasing international scrutiny over India’s covert operations, highlighting disturbing new chapter in the decades-long rivalry between India and Pakistan, as both nations continue to escalate their shadow wars through violent and clandestine means.
