MODI’S India has become an unlivable place for its two hundred million Muslims. In fact an organized campaign has been launched by the BJP government to target the Muslims in whatever way they could either through controversial legislations or resorting to violence against them. In recent weeks, the whole world witnessed the massacre of Muslims in the Indian capital New Delhi when Hindu mobs targeted Muslim homes and mosques killing at least forty three Muslims. To add fuel to the fire, the BJP leaders are continuing to spit venom against Muslims. In the latest one, Dr Subramanian Swamy, a senior leader of the ruling party and a member of India’s Parliament said that Muslims are not equal citizens since they pose a threat to the world. He in fact was trying to justify an ongoing human rights crisis in India, where Muslims are treated like second class citizens. The very words of the BJP leader have really shown the hate and bigotry they harbour against the Muslims. The fact of the matter is that it is not the Muslims but the extremist Hindus pursuing RSS ideology that pose a threat not only to India but the region and the world at large. The Muslims in India have always been at the receiving end either in Gujarat back in 2002 where thousands of Muslims were massacred and then most recently in New Delhi. Therefore, nobody would believe what Subramanian Swamy has uttered from his stinky mouth. There are only few Muslim leaders and PM Imran Khan is at the forefront who is censuring the Nazi inspired ideology of BJP government. It is time that all the Muslim leaders rising above their economic interests come in support and solidarity of the Indian Muslims. A united voice should be raised at the platform of OIC. This response should not be limited to mere words but concrete actions. In the current environment, a larger pogrom of Indian Muslims cannot be ruled out. To prevent this, the Muslim leaders need to call a spade a spade to bring the extremist government in India to senses.
