NEW DEHLI –  The remarks by Indian High Court Judge Sri Sunanda referring to the Muslim-majority area of Bangalore as Pakistan during a case hearing have sparked an uproar.

According to Indian media, the High Court judge made these remarks during a hearing in a dispute between a landlord and a tenant.

The judge’s remarks quickly went viral on social media, leading to threats from extremist Hindutva gangs. Protests also erupted in some areas.

Members of the BJP expressed their anger, after which the Indian Supreme Court took suo motu notice and demanded a report from the registrar.

A five-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by the Chief Justice of India, issued directives saying that judges should maintain judicial decorum and consider the sentiments of the nation while making remarks during hearings.

The social media wing of Modi’s government does not shy away from issuing death threats, and their bullying affects politicians, human rights activists, and even celebrities.
