RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he was informed in jail that the Islamabad rally could lead to chaos in the country, which led him to decide to postpone the rally.

Imran Khan said that the Islamabad rally was postponed due to the issue of Finality of Prophethood (Khatm-e-Nubuwwat).

He made these remarks while holding an informal talk with the journalists at Adiala jail o Friday.

The PTI founder received information that the matter was sensitive and that a religious party was protesting in Islamabad, raising concerns about potential unrest. Hence, the rally in Islamabad was postponed to avoid a repeat of the situation on May 9, and the judicial inquiry into the events of May 9 has not yet been conducted.

Imran Khan said that if the authorities attempt to prevent the rally despite granting permission, the government would be responsible. He emphasized that the credibility of the court is at stake—whether the court will grant permission or the administration will cancel it. He directed the party not to tolerate any obstacles on September 8, saying that he has postponed the Islamabad rally for the last time and directed the party to hold a meeting before September 8 to decide when to protest if the Supreme Court’s decision is not implemented.

He warned that if anyone tries to obstruct the rally, the party should not stop.

When asked about General (retd) Faiz’s trial, the response from the other side was that Imran Khan has no right to demand an open trial for Faiz Hamid. Imran Khan responded that as the leader of the largest party in the country calling for an open trial, such accusations are baseless.

He mentioned that he started the party from scratch and has struggled within the framework of the constitution for 28 years. If Faiz was involved in the May 9 events, an open trial should be conducted. He stated that this is neither a military issue nor a secret international issue.

The PTI founder said that if the Hamoodur Rahman Report had been implemented, there would be democracy in the country today. An open trial would benefit the country in the same way as implementing the Hamoodur Rahman Report. If the report had been implemented, there would have been no three martial laws, nor would there be an undeclared martial law today. The events of May 9 are an attack on democracy, and he is calling for a commission to ensure such mistakes are not repeated in the future.

He also questioned who sent the message to Azam Swati late at night, who the messenger was, and how he received phone access. When asked, Imran Khan smiled and asked to leave that question unanswered.

When asked about his sister’s recent audio, in which she claimed that the PTI founder did not order the postponement of the rally but that party leaders did, Imran Khan responded that the entire party was upset about the postponement.

He agreed that the rally should have happened but was postponed only to avoid unrest. He stated that regardless of what happens now, the rallies would be held in every district.

He was asked to clarify if the message about potential chaos was from the federal government or someone else. Imran Khan responded that he had not communicated with any government about the rally.

mran Khan mentioned that Nawaz Sharif’s backpack is ready for London, and only essential items need to be taken. He claimed this is all happening to secure an extension for Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. If they cannot give him an extension, they will influence seniority to bring in their own person, which he deemed unacceptable. He warned that if such actions take place, there will be widespread protests across the country.

When asked about rumors of “angels” visiting him and receiving inside information overnight, Imran Khan clarified that whenever there is commotion in the PML-N (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz), it indicates they are worried about PTI’s talks with the establishment.

However, he confirmed that he did not discuss the rally with the government, only that they informed him of potential chaos, which led to the postponement.

Imran Khan emphasized that now the issue is the judiciary’s credibility—whether the court grants permission for the rally and the administration cancels the NOC. PTI is the only party not being granted permission for a rally in Islamabad.

Meanwhile, after a year, the PTI founder has been provided with an electric toothbrush and books. During today’s hearing, he appeared smiling, content, and in good spirits.
