ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) incarcerated chief Imran Khan said he is ready to offer a conditional apology for the May 9 riots, but if his party members were found guilty in the violent protests.

In a statement, the jailed politician shows some change in his stern stance to apologize on the darkest day when civil, military installations were attacked. Khan, who remains behind bars for more than a year now, said if PTI activists are proven to be guilty, he will himself call for action against them.

The riots included attacks on public property and military installations across Pakistan, leading both civil and military authorities to prosecute the rioters under the Army Act.

Khan repeatedly distanced PTI from these protests, claiming that the riots were pre-planned to justify a crackdown on his opposition party.

Former premier also lamented how he was took away by Rangers, and expressed his frustration over the lack of respect for prominent figures in Pakistan.

This is a developing story, more updates to follow…
