The Islamabad High Court has dismissed a petition seeking cancellation of in-person O/A Level exams across the country.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah while hearing the plea on Friday remarked that the courts could not interfere in policy matters, adding that their (the petitioners’) request could be sent to the National Command Operation Center (NCOC).
The federal government can’t issue instructions to Cambridge, the judge remarked.
In their plea the students said that given the spike in cases of Covid-19 in the country it had become too risky for them to take exams in person, adding that the exams should be moved online.
However, the court turned down their plea after briefly reserving the judgment. Earlier this month, the government announced that O Level exams would begin on May 10, while As and A Level assessments would be conducted on April 26.
