ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday directed the Foreign Secretary to ensure the return of Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui’s passport, the sister of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who is currently incarcerated in the United States.
The court was hearing a petition related to the release and repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
During the hearing, Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui informed the court that her visa had been issued, but her passport was not being returned. Responding to this, the court instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the return of her passport.
The IHC ordered the Foreign Secretary to ensure compliance and adjourned the hearing until next Friday.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently approved expenses for a delegation traveling to the United States to negotiate Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release.
