Inspector General of Police Sindh, Riffat Mukhtar Raja, announced an initiative to implement an eco-friendly energy system at the Central Police Office Karachi. In a recent review meeting chaired by IG Sindh Riffat Mukhtar Raja, discussions centered on transitioning the office to solar energy, with Secretary Energy Rehan Baloch and Project Director Solar Energy, Mahfooz Qazi, providing vital insights. Project Director Mahfooz Qazi informed that the preliminary report indicates that the solar project could generate 258 kilowatts energy from solar panels, translating to an annual savings of 20% in energy costs, equivalent to a substantial 14 million rupees per year. He outlined a three-month timeline for the completion of this environmentally conscious endeavor.
IG Sindh Riffat Mukhtar Raja emphasized the ecological benefits of solar energy, highlighting its safety and pollution-free characteristics. He expressed a broader vision for Karachi, urging the shift to solar energy across various buildings of Police department in Karachi and underlining the importance of swift project completion. In response to this vision, IG Sindh instructed the formation of a coordination committee comprising officers from both the police and energy departments.
This committee will spearhead the transition of police buildings and training centers to solar energy, with a focus on prompt reporting and detailed analysis of energy production and savings. Secretary Forests and Wildlife Sindh, Najam Shah, and senior officers of CPO were also present and echoed their support for this transformative initiative.
