Punjab Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani on Sunday directed that the process of departmental promotions should be completed as soon as possible to post officers and personnel on vacancies lying vacant in all districts and field formations according to merit and seniority.
“Only dutiful and honest officers and officials should be considered for the promotions to encourage them and promote professionalism in the department.” The IG Police said that steps should be taken on priority to fill all the vacancies from constable to SP rank through promotions within the next 15 days and new appointments would be made after departmental promotions by holding promotion board meetings in all districts and field formations as early as possible. He further said that all the field or unit heads would complete the promotion process for the vacant posts and issue a certificate to the Additional IG Establishment by February 16 stating the details of filling up of vacancies in the respective district or field unit after promotion of officers and personnel. He issued these instructions in a wireless message to all command officers including RPOs, unit heads, CPOs, DPOs of the province.
The IGP urged the officers to ensure timely action under personal supervision to fill the vacancies. He further said that filling up of vacancies in various districts and field formations would further improve all professional matters including supervision and operations and besides improving public service delivery, the process of eradication of criminal elements would also be expedited. He further said that making the process of service delivery more efficient and easy for the citizens is one of the top priorities of the Punjab Police and steps would be taken in this regard on priority basis.
