DUBAI –   The decision on hosting and hybrid model for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is expected on Wednesday (tomorrow), said the sources on Tuesday.

However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to maintain pressure on the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding its demands for the hosting and hybrid model of the Champions Trophy 2025.

The reports suggested that there is a strong likelihood that the tournament would follow the hybrid model, which might also extend to all ICC events scheduled in India until 2027.

The PCB presented its case for adopting the hybrid model, asserting that India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan on security grounds is baseless. The PCB warned that if India continued its refusal, Pakistan would not send its team to play in any ICC events hosted in India.

As per an informal agreement between the two boards, the hybrid model would apply to ICC tournaments including the Champions Trophy, Women’s World Cup and the T20 World Cup 2026.

The PCB also demanded that the terms of the agreement between the Pakistan and Indian cricket boards regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 be formally included in the host agreement.

However, no further details have been disclosed yet.

It may be mentioned here that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place in Pakistan in February and March. However, the final schedule remains undecided due to India’s refusal to participate.
