Hurriyat AJK leaders while paying tribute to the Poet of East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his birth anniversary, today, said that Iqbal was a brilliant poet, thinker and philosopher.

Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement Vice Chairman Imtiaz Wani in a statement issued in Islamabad said, the Ummah would always be proud of him for his guidance to the Muslims he gave through his poetry.

“It is a matter of pride for us that Allama Iqbal also belonged to the land of Kashmir. He always supported the struggle of Kashmiri Muslims against the Dogra dictatorship and always portrayed Kashmir and the Kashmiris in his poetry,” he said.

He added that it were teachings of Allama Iqbal that the Kashmiri people passed a historic resolution of Accession to Pakistan before the country came into being.

Another Hurriyat AJK leader, Abdul Hameed Lone, in a statement issued in Islamabad said that Allama Iqbal was the man who gave the idea of Pakistan.

However, he said Iqbal’s wish for Kashmiris’ freedom is yet to be fulfilled. He hoped that soon Kashmir would become part of Pakistan—KM S
