Hurriyat leader and journalist’s mother passes away

The mother of Hurriyat leader, Qazi Yasir, and noted journalist and editor of news portal The Kashmiriyat, Qazi Shibli, passed away in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir after a protracted illness.

According to Kashmir Media Service, she breathed her last in Islamabad town of South Kashmir. Her husband Dr Qazi Nisar Ahmad was martyred by unidentified gunmen in Dialgam area of the district on June 19 in 1994.

The funeral prayers of the deceased will be offered at Idara Tehqiqat e Islami Old Eid Gah in Islamabad town after Zuhr prayers, today.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the mother of Qazi Yasir and Qazi Shibli and showed solidarity with the bereaved family. The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Com-mittee (AAC) on behalf of the organisation and its Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of the widow of religious scholar Qazi Nisar.—KMS
