Health Minister assures PMA to resolve healthcare issues

Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) had a meetingwith Caretaker Sindh Health Minister Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz on Monday todiscuss health issues of the province of Sindh. Office Bearers of PMACentre, PMA Karachi and senior members of PMA were present in themeeting.

Dr. Abdul Ghafoor Shoro, Secretary General PMA briefed the Sindh healthminister about the longstanding issues of health in the province likeshortage of medicine in government hospitals, Security of doctors,protection of the rights of the patients, issues of healthcarecommission, anti- quackery campaign, registration of the healthcareproviders, promotion of doctors, issues of PPHI, banning Chalia/ Gutkaand smoking in the province particularly with in the premises ofeducational institutes.Dr. Shoro also stressed upon the minister to make sure that no FIR belodged against any doctor without the recommendation of Sindh Healthcarecommission.

FIR must be immediately registered against the culprits involved in theviolence against doctors under anti-terrorism act. Dr.  Qazi  Wasiq  requested the minister to actively initiate corneadonation Program and to create public awareness for effective localCorneal donation after death.PMA appreciated the minister’s efforts for initiating audit of 13 majorhospitals in Sindh.Minister shared the future plans regarding the improvement of healthdelivery system in the province. He said that recently he directed toall the hospitals to make sure the purchase of medicine transparently.

He also informed PMA members that health ministry is going to make acredential committee in all hospitals for the procurement of medicine.No medicine will be purchased without the approval of credentialcommittee.
