Habib University held a combined Degree Distribution Ceremony for the Classes of 2020 & 2021 on campus grounds to celebrate the success of the two batches, who despite the pandemic had not wavered from their academic pursuits.
Held with strict Covid SOPs in place, this was the first large gathering held on university grounds for over two years.
Conducting the ceremony was a natural extension of Habib University’s proactive approach during the Covid-19 pandemic, at the start of which Habib University had led the way, quickly and seamlessly shifting to online teaching and learning platforms.
The entire Habib community had responded positively, especially the students, who faced the challenges with fortitude and remained focused on their academic pursuits.
As a result, both batches graduated on time with virtual convocation ceremonies being organized in 2020 and 2021.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Aamir Hasan, Interim Vice President Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, said, “Our gathering this evening [is] so very special.
Not only does it provide you the opportunity to receive your degree in the presence your faculty, who have facilitated you to reach to this point, it is also a time to share your success with your parents.”
Each year the Convocation marks the culmination of the academic year and is an extremely important and celebratory event at Habib for the entire Habib community.
The ceremony was presided over by the President of Habib University, Mr. Wasif A. Rizvi, who gave the graduates following advice, “Always reflect on what you were invited to cultivate within yourselves at Habib. Close your cynicism with passion and khuloos.
Challenge ugliness and destruction with grace and beauty. Address laziness, indifference, incompetence with ahsan, rigor and excellence. And tackle exploitation and greediness with ahsaan, goodness, generosity and service”.
With the pandemic in recession, Habib University is hopeful of hosting an in-person Convocation in 2022.
