Govt working on issuance of health cards: Soomro

Sindh Caretaker Law Minister Omar Soomro handed over a cheque of Rs7.5 million grant to the Malir Bar Association (MBA).Addressing a ceremony at the MBA, he said the Sindh government was working to provide health cards to the people of Sindh like other provinces.He explained that he was working with the health minister for the issuance of health cards on directives of the interim Sindh chief minister.

Highlighting the importance of legal profession, Soomro said it was essential to understand the importance of ‘black coat’. “Today, I presented a cheque of Rs7.5 million grant to the Malir Bar on behalf of the caretaker Sindh government. This was a gift for the MBA,” he stressed.The law minister claimed that the health card scheme for lawyers had failed due to ego of some people.

He added that legal action would be taken against the relevant insurance company.He said the government was mulling over a Rs25,000 stipend for young lawyers similar to one given to doctors for house jobs. He added that the government had also arranged courses for lawyers that would be offered in Karachi and Sukkur.
