The All Rawalpindi Restaurants Association has criticized the government for leaving the hundreds and thousands of the restaurants workers (waiters and support staff) in the lurch and on the mercy of hard circumstances by imposing ban on indoor and outdoor dining.
The association has demanded of the government to think of these jobless workers who are suffering due to restaurants closure and pay them out of Social Security Funds so they can celebrate the Eidul Fitr with dignity.
Chaudhry Mohammad Farooq, general secretary of the Association said that the government’s decision of banning indoor and outdoor dining has rendered hundreds of thousands workers working in restaurants jobless.
He said that the restaurant owners continue to make contribution with the Social Security, paying all sorts of taxes to the government but still they are not allowed to operate lawful business while the markets and shopkeepers are allowed to work.
The restaurant industry is not being treated fairly as the government has introduced discriminatory policy for the eateries he said.
He requested the authorities concerned to make arrangements for compensating the waiters and chefs out of Social Security Funds so they can buy dresses and food for their families before Eid.
