ISLAMABAD – In a positive development to diffuse political instability, the federal government Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) resumed formal talks. PTI top guns rubbed shoulders with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq at the Speaker’s House, where they were joined by Barrister Gohar, Omar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Azam Nazir Tarar.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to use parliament as a platform for negotiations, a proposal that was accepted by all parties involved. The talks will proceed without preconditions, with the aim of de-escalating tensions and finding common ground on key issues.
Two sides are expected to announce the members of their respective negotiating committees following further consultations. PTI has softened its previous demands and initiated contact with the government to begin the dialogue process.
Earlier, PTI leaders Salman Akram Raja and Asad Qaiser integrated with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in a separate session. PTI’s decision to reach out for talks was welcomed by the government, which emphasized that reconciliation and dialogue are the way forward in Pakistan’s political landscape.
As part of its revised stance, Imran Khan’s party shifted its focus, now calling for a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26. The move signals PTI’s willingness to engage in constructive discussions, aiming to foster stability and reconciliation in the country.
