Governor, Chinese ambassador vow to strengthen Pak-China cooperation

Governor Sindh Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori, met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at Governor House on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and Chinese investments in the province. During the meeting, Governor Tessori emphasized the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and China, describing it as “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the sea.” He highlighted the importance of learning from China’s development model and mentioned that the completion of the Karachi Circular Railway under CPEC would be a major step forward for the region.

The governor also underscored that lasting peace in the province has created a conducive environment for investment, particularly with China’s assistance in the IT sector, which will drive rapid development.

Ambassador Zaidong expressed interest in the renewable energy sector, noting that the Chinese company Hexing Group aims to invest in the manufacturing of inverters and batteries, marking it as the first Chinese enterprise in Pakistan to do so. During the visit, Governor Tessori presented the Chinese ambassador with a Jinnah cap and shawl. Ambassador Zaidong also participated in a tree-planting ceremony at Governor House. Speaking to the media afterward, Governor Tessori stressed the importance of facilitating investors from both countries and mentioned that the Chinese ambassador has directed the Chinese Consul General to remain in contact with Governor House for future cooperation. Governor Tessori affirmed the commitment to work in line with the vision of the Prime Minister and Army Chief for economic development, noting that China’s ambassador is well aware of Pakistan’s challenges and is eager to cooperate.

He added that a detailed discussion took place regarding the CPEC, with hopes for swift completion of the project and its associated developments. The Chinese ambassador assured further investment and committed to resolving all security concerns for Chinese investors, highlighting that both the Prime Minister and Army Chief are focused on ensuring strong security measures to encourage increased investment and business.

Governor Kamran Tessori also praised the strong people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China, stating that these relations extend beyond governments to the public. He noted the ambassador’s appreciation of the IT classes and other initiatives under the Governor’s Initiative, adding that China holds Quaid-e-Azam in high regard. The ambassador expressed joy in visiting Karachi, calling it the economic hub of Pakistan, and committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation further.
