Gohar instructs Islamabad Police to address issues of residents

A day after assuming the additional charge asthe interior minister, Gohar Ejaz on Thursday directed the Islamabad Police and administration to make concerted efforts to address theissues of residents of Islamabad.

Ejaz, the caretaker minister for commerce, industries and production,as given the additional charge of the Interior Ministry on Wednesday, after Sarfraz Bugti stepped down the past month.

Chairing an important meeting on Thursday, Gohar Ejaz requested a report from the Islamabad Police chief. He said he would personally visit all the police stations in Islamabad.

The minister also issued orders for the up-gradation of the 24 police stations in Islamabad, stating that these would be made model police stations.

Ejaz was assigned the portfolio for the interior minister by the caretaker prime minister with immediate effect, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Interior, being a full-time ministry, requires collaboration with the provinces on law and order matters.

Bugti, the former caretaker interior minister, resigned on Dec 15, last year, to participate in the Feb 8 elections.
