Ambassador of Germany Bernhard Schlagheck has assured his country’s support to Commission on Science & Technology for Sustainable Development in South (COMSATS) for its ongoing programmes and projects.
The German ambassador was received by the Executive Director of the COMSATS Dr SM Junaid Zaidi and his team upon arrival to the COMSATS headquarters.
The ambassador was briefed about the preparations with regard to upcoming seminar on sustainable development in Accra, capital city of Ghana.
The meeting also discussed possible areas of support and cooperation by the German government to the COMSATS’ initiatives in education, science & technology and sustainable growth.
Executive Director briefed the German ambassadors about the commission’s achievements in information and communication technologies with regard to cooperation with other countries in the field of science and innovation.
“COMSATS is also working in health, Information Technology, higher education and climate change and exchanging its data and findings with members countries’ research institutions and universities,” said the executive director Dr Zaidi while briefing the German ambassador.
Ambassador Bernhard Schlagheck took keen interest in the commission’s working, performance and achievements particularly its endeavours in attaining the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
COMSATS provides a useful platform for cooperation in the developing countries of Asia and Africa and the government of Germany would take into account what it could do to support the commission in its endeavours, he said.
