Eminent educationist, acclaimed writer and researcher and senior member of the Nazriya Pakistan Council’s (NPC) executive committee Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Tahir has been nominated as Member of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the National Book Foundation (NBF).
Ministry of the Federal Education & Professional Training has named Gen Tahir as Member of the BoG for a period of three years vide a notification dated Dec 7, 2020.
According to a letter addressed to Gen Tahir by the Managing Director of the NBF, Qaisar Alam, he has been taken on the BoG to enable the NBF meet its main objective of making the books available to general public and students at moderate prices and to promote reading habit and create book culture in society.
Gen Tahir is one of the five members selected amongst eminent educationists, men of letters and scholars. The other four distinguished members are Prof Fateh Mohammad Malik, Mrs Qaisera Alvi, Prof Dr Shah Muhammad Marri and Dr Muhammad Yousaf Khushk.
“I warmly welcome you as distinguished member of the BoG,” further says the NBF MD in his letter.
