Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has denounced the controversial appointment of the IRSA Chairman, Zafer Mahmood, labeling it as a move against the interests of Sindh. Secretary of Information for the GDA, Sardar Abdul Rahim, asserted that such unconstitutional appointments signify a dangerous trend of exploiting the natural resources and assets of Pakistan, particularly in Sindh and Balochistan. Rahim criticized Mahmood’s affiliation with the supporters of the controversial Kala Bagh Dam project, warning that failure to revoke his appointment promptly could trigger widespread protests across Sindh. He emphasized that the GDA would not stand idly by while the interests of the province are undermined. Furthermore, Rahim criticized Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of orchestrating Mahmood’s appointment to serve their own agenda. He stressed that allowing the PML-N to dictate such appointments would only exacerbate tensions and fuel resentment among the people of Sindh.
In light of these developments, the GDA called for immediate action to rectify the situation and ensure that individuals with vested interests do not hold positions of power. Rahim underscored the importance of upholding constitutional principles and vowed that the GDA would continue to champion the rights and interests of the people of Sindh against any unconstitutional actions.
