G-9 Chowk on Service Road East to be named after Osama Satti New IGP visits Osama’s house, assures slain youth’s father impartial inquiry

Islamabad’s newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamilur Rehman on Saturday, a day after taking charge of the office, visited the house of Osama Satti Shaheed, a university student who was brutally murdered by the Islamabad Police on the eve of the New Year and expressed condolences with his family over loss of the precious life.
Senior police officials including DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed and SPs also accompanied the IGP on the occasion.
Qazi Jamil visited the family of the slain youth to heal the wounds of the family and to restore public trust in police force that currently stands shattered after the incident.
During his visit, the IGP assured the father of the youth, Nadeem Younas Satti that justice would be ensured as Islamabad police was investigating case purely on merit.
He also brought to the knowledge of the aggrieved family that five policemen involved in the killing have been terminated from their services.
The family was assured that every development in this case would be shared with them and nothing would be concealed from public too.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad district administration is all set to name the chowk on Service Road East, Sector G-9 as Osama Satti Shaheed Chowk, as the relatives of the slain youth have been protesting for the last few days for the acceptance of their demand.
In this regard, the District Magistrate Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) wrote to the Director (Admn) Chief Commissioner Office, ICT, Islamabad to approach the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to name the chowk on Service Road East, Sector G-9 Islamabad as Osama Satti Shaheed Chowk.
The letter, a copy of which is available with Pakistan Observer reads, “On January 2, 2021 at 01: am, Osama Satti was killed during a car chase near G-10 Srinagar Highway- vehicle No. ADS-304, (White Suzuki Car), by the ATS after hot pursuit, for which FIR No. 04/2021 date 02-01-2021 has been lodged.”
“Now family of Osama Satti is protesting at Express Chowk, Jinnah Avenue, Islamabad and is demanding to name the chowk on Service Road East Sector G-9, Islamabad as Osama Satti Shaheed Chowk,” it adds.
“It is, therefore, requested that the CDA authorities may kindly be approached to considered that the chowk on Service Road East, Sector G-9, Islamabad as Osama Satti Shaheed Chowk please.”
