A meeting of the newly constituted advisory committee of Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) for the year 2023-24 was held here on Saturday to discuss measures to improve taxpayers’ facilitation through early redressal of issues raised by traders and public at large.
Chaired by Federal Tax Ombudsman, Dr. AsifMahmood Jan (Hilal-i-Imtiaz) (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), the meeting also launched job description book of the office of FTO, Zia-ul-HaqSarhadi, Media Coordinator FTO for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa informed. Zia-ul-HaqSarhadi in a statement here said that the meeting decided to distribute refund cheques among the complainants of Pak-Suzuki case. During the meeting, FTO AsifMahmood Jab apprised members that in a number of complaints, the issues raised by the Complainants, were resolved on telephonic discussion or by forwarding SMS to the relevant tax functionaries under the FBR, by exercising the powers under Section 33 of the FTO Ordinance, 2000. Pakistani, Dr. Muhammad Naveed Khan, who is working as a medical doctor in Saudi Arabia since 2010, decided to take up the tax maladministration case to FTO. Dr. Naveed provided his FBR proof of being employed in Saudi Arabia since 2010.
