First vessel of imported wheat expected to reach next week

Ministry of National Food Security & Research has affirmed on Wednesday that Department of Plant Protection has so far issued Import Permit to 380 private importers for 1,576,000 tons. 6 Letters of Credit (LCs) are opened and two are under process.
Nine vessels have been booked up to October, 2020 for approximately 65,000 metric tons each. First vessel carrying 60,804 MT of wheat is expected to be arrived on 26 August.
Second ship carrying 65,000 tons of wheat is predicted to be arrived on 28 August. Third container carrying 69,000 MT of wheat is expected to turn up on 8th September; similarly 4th vessel with 55,000 MT of wheat will reach Pakistan on 12th September.
And 5th ship with 65,000 MT of wheat will arrive on 17th September, 2020. 6th vessel with 65,000 MT of wheat will disembark on 19th September, 2020. Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has invited international tenders for the import of 1.5 MMT of wheat. Three recipients have endorsed the quantity of 1.5 MMT of imported wheat i.e. Punjab (0.70 MMT), KP (0.30 MMT) and PASSCO (0.50 MMT). It is expected that first shipment of imported wheat through TCP will reach during the Second week of October, 2020.
