Fire in South Afghanistan inflicts substantial financial loss

According to the local Taliban officials in the southern province of Afghanistan, Helmand, the fire in a market in Lashkar Gah, the provincial center of Helmand province, has inflicted an estimated loss of 1 million Afghanis.

Omari Market, which is located in Lashkar Gah’s first police district, caught fire on Friday night, June 24, according to the Taliban’s Director of Information and Culture in the province of Helmand, burning the market’s goods in flames. He claims that firefighters arrived on time and saved ten million Afghanis worth of goods from being destroyed by the fire.

A recent fire in a wood shop in Ghazni province, in southeast Afghanistan, also resulted in substantial financial loss. Sources claim that people had to put out the flames themselves.
