Two federal ministers and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have agreed to resolve issues, including load shedding and electricity, together.

According to media reports, this came during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Energy Minister Awais Leghari, and KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur in Islamabad on Sunday. “They have decided to meet again on today Monday.

Gandapur was in the federal capital to attend the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s apex committee meeting. The hybrid civil-military forum reviewed various initiatives and projects under the SIFC’s ambit. It has called for the timely accomplishment of various privatisation milestones in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

On Saturday, PTI MPA Fazal Elahi allegedly led protesters inside Peshawar’s Rehman Baba Grid Station and forcibly activated feeders as protest against uninterrupted loadshedding in the province. The protest came to an end after the demonstrators received assurances that Pesco would reduce prolonged power cuts. Elahi announced the end of the rally after negotiations between the demonstrators, Assistant Commissioner Haroon Saleem and Pesco executive engineer Alam Zeb proved successful.

Last week, Gandapur asked the government to pay Rs50 billion of its due funds in the next two months. He also threatened to take over WAPDA offices in the provinces if the federal government did not budge. Moreover, they stressed his commitment to providing relief to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Accordingly, he requested that federal funds be released to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as soon as possible. In what was seemingly a hint at protests, Gandapur said that the KP government cannot simply keep making requests and would have to take matters in his own hands at some point.
