Chairman Fishermen’s Operative Society (FCS) Abdul Berr has said that some PTI leaders will not be allowed to run away from their responsibilities by blaming others and pretending to be sympathetic to the fishermen. Instead of protecting the sea from getting polluted and cleaning the Karachi Fish Harbour channel, the federal government is distracting fishermen, he added. The FCS chief, while talking to the fishermen at the start of the second phase of the cleaning campaign, said that the Fishermen’s Operative Society, with the help of fishermen, has started the second phase of the clean-up campaign on the islands with its own help. Cleaning work has been started, and the clean-up campaign will continue till completion on all the fishing islands. Chairman Fishermen’s Operative Society (FCS) Abdul Berr said the cleaning of the islands and beaches is not the responsibility of the FCS and fishermen and the criminal silence of the agencies responsible for the protection of marine life and control of environmental pollution is beyond comprehension, while the real responsibility for sea cleaning lies with the Karachi Port Trust, a federal agency. Under the direction of the FCS chairman, the second phase of the clean-up drive has been started by team, headed by Directors Asif Iqbal Bhatti and Haji Abdul Rauf Ibrahim. Chairman Abdul Berr appreciated the efforts of Director Asif Iqbal Bhatti and Haji Abdul Rauf Ibrahim He said if all the directors acted like them, the condition of the Fishermen’s Coperative Society could change in days, not months. Berr said that self-help clean-up campaign would be continued on other marine islands as well.
