JEHLUM – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lamented the crackdown on its party leaders, as several politicians have been arrested ahead of the elections 2024.
The latest to come under police action is Fawad Chaudhry’s brother who was held in Jhelum while submitting nomination papers of Fawad Chaudhry for general elections.
Cops alleged that Faraz Chaudhry was wanted in many cases related to attacks on law enforcers and over his involvement in riots.
Faraz was held from NA-60 where he arrived to submit the nomination papers of his brother Fawad Chaudhry.
Several leaders of former ruling party including Sher Afzal Marwat, and even lawyers were arrested from outside Lahore High Court (LHC).
Imran Khan’s party decried Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for its alleged silence over the crackdown on party leaders, saying such moves weaken the federation.
Shoaib Shaheen and other leaders called upon electoral watchdog over its silence ahead of elections. He said parties are busy in their poll campaigns but PTI is facing crackdown, and their nomination papers are snatched by cops.
