In an incident lawyers severely beat and torture a retired army officer for failing to pay fee. Major retired Tariq of Chillianwala has engaged Qazi Bashir as his lawyer in a case relating to land property. Initially he paid rupees on lakh and promised to pay remaining fee later when the case is decided.
Two days earlier, when requested by Maj Tariq to appear and plead his case in the court, the lawyer refused to oblige him till he is not paid Rs one lakh more. Maj Tariq said he did not have that much amount at the time and that he would pay the same later. But the lawyer did not pay any heed to his request over which some harsh words were exchanged. In the meantime advocate Qazi and his associates leapt out and assaulted Maj Tariq with raining blows, punches, and kicks on different parts of his body.
Maj Tariq resisted but he was overpowered by lawyers who further belabored him and torn clothes he was wearing. Maj Tariq in beleaguered state went to DPO to lodge complaint against the lawyers but the DPO did not attend his complaint. On the other hand lawyers got FIR registered against Maj Tariq under section 506b PPC. Learning about the incident President Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) Gujranwala Division Major retired Zafar Warriach held a meeting with PESS local leaders.
