Cantt Board Administration has destroyed century old historic office of Major James Abbott’s Office which was constructed in 1880 and vandalism in Abbottabad Club also.
Abbottabad’s Senior Lawyer Shabnam Nawaz Advocate has filed a writ petition against the Cantt board for demolishing the Abbottabad old heritage for the construction of commercial plaza and markets and had planned to raze the old station headquarter and surrounding buildings.
While giving details of her writ, Shabnam Nawaz who is currently leading a group of social activists including renowned heritage torch bearer Mehmood Aslam has filed writ in Peshawar High Court Abbottabad circuit bench under preservation and protection of antiquities and honorable court has fixed 29th June 2021 for the hearing with notices to government of Pakistan through Secretary defense, Cantonment executive Officer Abbottabad, Station commander Abbottabad secretary Tourism Cultural Affairs & Archaeology Department, Director Archeology Museums KPK, Commandant FFR Centre and Commandant Balooch Regiment Centre.
In the writ, it was demanded that the century old historical building of Abbottabad Club which was once upon time was only place used for the civilian as recreation centre.
