DUBAI – The Ministry of Interior is the competent authority to issue passports to the UAE nationals. The Emirati passport is ranked as the most powerful one in the Arab region.
It is required to keep a valid passport while travelling abroad as they can be denied boarding the flight if they are carrying an expired document.
UAE citizens can apply for the passport renewal if it is expired or going to expire in six months.
UAE nationals can apply for renewal of passports through various several channels. They can get it renewed from General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs/Citizenship Departments (GDRFA) or Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security website.
Applicants may also apply online through the eChannels Residency and Citizenship portal- Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security
The passport renewal facility is also available at Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah airports.
UAE Passport Renewal Fee in July 2024
As of the July 2024, the fee structure for renewal of the Emirati passport include Request fee of 10 AED, issue fee of 40 AED and delivery fee of 15 AED.
