Former federal minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman reiterated that the elections should be held on time. Expressing her views, Sherry made it clear that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) wanted the timely elections in the country. Speaking about the torture of the teenage maid Rizwana, Sherry said: “So far, no court has taken notice of the incident of Rizwana’s torture”.
She said, “The re-cent announcement by the Elec-tion Commission, indicat-ing that the delimitation of constituencies according to the new census will take four months, is a matter of signifi-cant concern and disappoint-ment. The Pakistan People’s Party de-mands that the Election Commission reconsider its decision in light of constitu-tional adherence.” “The early dissolution of the assemblies was also strategically aimed at providing ample time to the Election Commission of Paki-stan for the prepara-tions.—INP
